United Way

Graphic Designer • 2005 - 2006

Designing for United Way of Los Angeles was extremely rewarding. I collaborated with people that were devoted to improving quality of life for families and communities in need. As the sole graphic designer, I worked on a wide range of materials, developing my skills in print design, project management, and art direction. I designed annual reports, education materials, event designs, and invitation packages for fundraisers.

Annual Report / Print

I had the honor of designing several printed publications for United Way LA, but I am particularly proud of the design for the 2004-2005 Annual Report. The level of work involved—from cover and theme concepts, to rounds of layout design, to fact-checking, grammar-checking, print setup, and proof-checking at the printer—requires every muscle of skill and creativity, to not only produce something without flaws, but that meets the needs and requirements of several key stakeholders.

Gala Invitation / Print

One of the major fundraiser events for United Way of Los Angeles is held by The Alexis de Tocqueville Society, a prestigious philanthropic group that supports United Way’s efforts to improve education, income, and health inequalities. I had the privilege of designing the invitation package, printed in spot colors and metallic silver, with a die-cut of the society’s fleur de lis symbol. The design earned an award from Graphic Design USA.
